Students in grades 9th – 12th will only have 2 classes every 8 weeks to focus on, which affords them the ability to truly master that curriculum during that time frame.
Mentor Teacher: Our grade 9-12 students are assigned a mentor teacher. The mentor teacher is here to support the families with school procedures. They will collect work samples and attendance, monitor each student’s progress, and ultimately create report cards. They will be able to issue extensions when necessary, as well as request new course assignments. Their role is similar to a homeroom teacher who acts as a central person supporting a student’s overall progress.
Content Teacher: Grade 9-12 students also have content teachers. Each subject will have a teacher assigned. Content teachers support students academically. They are responsible for grading submitted work and monitoring student progress. They also provide interventions for struggling students.
Principals: The principal oversees the organization and processes of the school, in addition to monitoring student progress and assigning courses. Each principal serves a different geographic area.
Learning Coach: This person is also frequently the parent. The Learning Coach ensures continuous student progress within the K-12 curriculum, including logging in daily to review lesson plans and attendance. Learning Coaches participate in scheduled parent-teacher calls, check email daily, submit student work samples/documents on schedule, ensure that students participate in required testing, and complete surveys when sent out. The Learning Coach is the primary contact for the student as they navigate their education.
